Watched a documentary all about Bowie during this period. His band had absolutely no idea this would be the last time Ziggy & The Spiders from Mars would be performing together. He announced it all onstage and never again performed as Ziggy Stardust. Incredibly ballsy and a bit dickish to his bandmates, but ultimately awesome and legendary.
“You mean to tell me I can never go platinum with a Christian rock band?”
“No, but you can go double myrhh”
“GODDAMMIT!”
Such a great episode.
